Your wedding is the day to celebrate you and your significant other as you begin your new life together. As you make the preparations for your big day, consider setting up an orthodontic consultation to ensure that your SMILE is as beautiful as you. Below are a few of the many different options available for braces for brides and straightening your teeth.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are made of a translucent material that you may find more aesthetically pleasing. The brackets are clear and may blend in with your teeth, so people may not notice you are wearing braces at all.
Invisalign®
An alternative to traditional braces, the Invisalign® system straightens teeth without any metal wires or brackets. Invisalign® consists of several different clear trays, called aligners. The aligners are custom made, using a 3-D technology, for each person and move teeth gradually until they reach the final, desired position. Each aligner is worn for approximately 2 weeks and then switched out for a new one to adjust the positions of your teeth. The aligners are only taken out to eat, floss, and brush your teeth and are practically unnoticeable while you are wearing them.
Passive Self Ligation Systems
The H4 and Damon® System use “sliding-door” technology, which allows the wire to move back and forth with light forces. These systems are called passive self ligation systems. These systems are often worn for less time than traditional braces with fewer adjustment appointments.
Which One Should You Choose?
- Ceramic braces
- Almost invisible in mouth
- Must be cleaned thoroughly after consuming food and beverages to prevent staining
- Invisalign®
- Are practically invisible while being worn
- Must be taken out to eat
- Patient cooperation needs to be 100%
- Passive Self Ligation Systems
- More comfortable than traditional braces
- Would be visible, so you would want this only if your treatment would be complete before the wedding date
