At the Grammy Awards in 2013, country singer Faith Hill was photographed smiling big with her new braces on. Faith Hill was 45 years old at the time and said she was wearing braces again because she forgot to wear her retainer when she was younger. Faith Hill encouraged kids to wear their retainers as prescribed by their orthodontist to protect their post-braces smile.
In 2003 at age 39, Nicolas Cage got braces on his lower teeth. The famous actor had an overbite, so his top teeth mostly covered his lower teeth and people did not often notice that they were crooked. However, crooked teeth are harder to clean and can be painful, so Nicolas Cage decided to have the issue corrected with braces. He completed orthodontic treatment between movie projects and his smile is now much improved.
Member of popular boy band One Direction, Niall Horan had braces put on in December 2011 when he was 18 years old. The singer had visibly crooked teeth and wore his braces for about 15 months before his treatment was finished and he showed off his brand new smile with all of his fans in April 2013.
In 2002 when he was 40 years old, famous actor Tom Cruise got braces to correct his teeth. Tom wore ceramic braces to align his teeth in a more subtle way than traditional metal braces. Tom Cruise wore his braces for approximately 2 years before completing his treatment. Although he did not publicly comment on his braces, he smiled big while wearing them on the red carpet.
Lead singer for the pop rock band No Doubt, Gwen Stefani got braces when she was 30 years old in 1999. Although she did not have visible gaps or crooked teeth, Gwen needed the braces to shift her teeth into a better position in her mouth. As a child, Gwen’s family was unable to provide her with the orthodontic treatment she needed. Gwen told fans that she always promised herself that if she ever had the money, she would get braces, which is just what she did. Gwen Stefani proudly showed off her new braces at a red carpet event in 1999, encouraging fans to not be ashamed of their braces.
Famous actress Dakota Fanning self-admittedly had several issues with her teeth growing up. Dakota had to have 6 teeth pulled and dental surgery before getting her braces on when she was 10 years old, in 2004. After 4 years in braces, including a short time wearing headgear, Dakota was able to complete her orthodontic treatment and rock her beautiful, straight teeth.
